NORTH Food Festival 2014 | SKÁL takes a fresh spin on Iceland
From September 12th – 20th, New York City hosted the second annual North Food Festival. The world’s top Scandinavian chefs gathered from across the globe to showcase their techniques at various tastings, cooking classes, food competitions, and kitchen collaborations.
As part of the impressive lineup, KLINIK partner SKÁL hosted a successful collaboration between SKÁL executive chef, James Kim and Gísli Matthías Auðunsson, co-owner and chef of Slippurinn Eatery, from Westman Islands, Iceland — a chef and restaurant sharing SKAL’s passion for fresh seafood, homegrown herbs, and seasonal ingredients.
Chefs Kim and Gísli joined forces to create an exclusive dinner collaboration featuring an eight-course menu of fresh, regional cuisine as well as an innovative array of Nordic cocktails. The cocktails, which featured uncommon ingredients such as pickled rhubarb, birch liquor, and arctic thyme, were so well received that they will be included on the SKÁL drink menu throughout the winter.
